John Strack Obituary

John "Jack" Strack, Sr., 88-year-old resident of Little Falls, MN, formerly of Randall, MN, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024 at the Little Falls Care Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April, 30, 2024, at St. James Catholic Church in Randall, MN with Father Ben Kociemba officiating. Burial will be at the St. James Parish Cemetery in Randall. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM on Monday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Jack was born on April 25, 1935 in Long Prairie Township, Todd County to the late Rudy and Isabelle (Katerhagen) Strack. He grew up and attended school in the Randall area. He was united in marriage to Arlene Sanders on November 27, 1957 at St. James Catholic Church in Randall, MN. The couple were blessed with nine children, whom they loved dearly. Jack worked several jobs throughout his life. The couple owned and operated the Randall Sinclair gas station and the Conoco gas station. He also worked at Strack's Bus Line, Otremba Disposal, and Fred's Plumbing and Heating. While employed at Fred's, he thoroughly enjoyed working and spending time with several of his sons and grandsons.

Jack loved to hunt, fish and eat his catch whenever he could. He also enjoyed playing cards, rolling dice, and watching westerns on TV. He really loved watching his kids and grandkids play in various sporting events such as, softball and baseball. Also, there was not a summer when Arlene didn't have him going on some vacation somewhere that they could drive and enjoy the scenery. Jack and Arlene truly loved each other and spent many Friday nights out on the dance floor at 37 Acres in Randall, MN. Another great passion that Jack had was his Catholic faith. He went to mass several times each week and prayed the Rosary multiple times every day. Jack truly loved life but what he found most fulfilling was spending time with his wife, family, and friends. It was with them that he loved to joke around and show his love by giving a hug or supplying that funny "one-liner." He was loved greatly and will be terribly missed by all who knew him. Blessed be his memory and may he rest in peace.

Jack is survived by eight of his children, Emery (Barb) Strack of Randall, MN, Melanie (Mark) Doroff of Little Falls, MN, Susanne (Mike) Strack-Smith of Ames, IA, John (Sharon) Strack of Cushing, MN, Rebecca (Shawn) Peterschick of Royalton, MN, Charles (Shayla) Strack of Little Falls, MN, Daniel (Kristy Calhoun) of Little Falls, MN, and Scott Strack of St. Cloud, MN. His surviving brothers and sisters include, Donald Strack of Randall, MN, Dale Strack of Randall, MN, Judy Hengel of Pillager, MN, Janice Pusc of Little Falls, MN, Caroline Wielinski of Little Falls, MN, Mary Virnig of Pierz, MN, Lois Molde of Little Falls, MN, and Patricia Colombe of Little Falls, MN; and finally, 26 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Arlene Strack; son, David Strack; grandson, Joey Doroff; parents, Rudy and Isabelle Strack; twin brother, Jerry Strack; and sisters, Arlene Turner, and Nancy Strack.
