Barbara Cochran Obituary

MOUNT GILEAD - Barbara Marie Cochran, age 85 of Mount Gilead, Ohio passed away on February 14, 2023.

Barbara was born on December 30, 1937, to Harold and Erma Pickett in Caledonia, Ohio.

She graduated from Caledonia High School, belonged to the Pythian sisters of Ohio and attended United Methodist Church. Barbara spent over 30 years working at Edison Billiard and Cycle where she was lifelong friends with the owners Howard Taylor and Shirley McAlister. There she met the love of her life Loyal Cochran and spent 33 years happily married to him.

She loved to cook and she and Loyal did a lot of traveling around the United States. Barbara was a happy person and loved by everyone she met. She loved just being around people. In 1969 she took in and raised four children who had lost their parents in a car accident earlier that year. We love her for doing that and keeping us all together. She will be greatly missed.

Barbara is survived by her children, Laura Cole-Radebaugh (Jeff), Darrell "Bud" Cole, Christina Cole-Scharf (Rick), and Michael Cole (Charlotte) all from Mansfield, Ohio, brother Don Pickett from Tarpon Springs, Florida and Larry Pickett (Karen) from Gahanna, Ohio, 10 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyal Cochran, siblings Robert Pickett and Maxine Petry.
