On February 6, 2022, Carolyn Raye Ciola got to meet her Lord and Savior face to face. Carol was a loving wife to Charles since Sept. 12, 2004, and the best mom ever to Joe Phillips Jr. (Darcy) and mother-in-law to Toni Phillips (AJ). She gained more children to love when she married Charlie: Craig(Andrea) and Kevin Ciola (Michele). Carol was Grammy to her grandchildren: Matt (Jolene), Jamie/James (Megan), Daniel (Malaina) Cody and MacKenzie Phillips, Jamie, Bryan and Laci Boyd. Vince (Vicki) Ciola, Ashley (Zach) Varga, Kelli (Kevin) Partridge, Jason (Stephanie) Ciola and Lilly Ciola. Ggrammy to Kaili, Marley, Jordan, Ellie, Phoenix, Jack and Kayleigh Phillips. Zeek Ladley, Jameson and Brielle Boyd, Viggo Ciola, Amelia and Emerson Varga, Mona Partridge and Mia Ciola. Best Buddy and Sis to her brother-in-law, David Antrim. Best friend and confidant to Georganne Smith, Julie Spaulding and Robin Palmasino. Also many beloved nieces and nephews to whom she was known as Aunt C.
Carol was born on January 11, 1940 and raised in Oakland Park in Columbus, Ohio. Carol graduated from Linden McKinley High School in 1958. She then went onto excel and graduate from the Mt. Carmel School of Nursing in 1961. She went to work at Doctors Hospital North where she went from being a floor nurse to the Nursing Supervisor of several different units. She was loved by every patient she ever had and by every member of the Doctors North staff. She maintained friendships with the doctors and nurses she loved until the time of her death. She loved her farm in Marengo and was rarely anywhere else unless she was at church. To meet Carol was to love her and everyone has said she was the nicest, kindest person they ever met.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; son, Albert James Madigan (AJ) Phillips; daughter, Rochelle/Ricki and son-in-law, Ken McLaughlin; her parents, Julie (Needles) and Winthrop Alsop Jackson Jr (Win); and beloved sister, Marty Antrim.
Due to the circumstances of her death from COVID-19, her husband wishes to keep her friends and family safe by having a memorial service at a date in the future at her church, Mt. Gilead Glory Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation to Mt. Gilead Glory Baptist Church, 600 N. Main St, Mt. Gilead, OH 43338.
