CARDINGTON - Steven A. High, age 67, of Cardington died June 16, 2023, peacefully at home after an 11-month battle with cancer.
He was born January 30, 1956, in Mt. Gilead to the late Albert and Janice (Young) High.
Steve attended Cardington-Lincoln High School. He worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation for 31 years and did snow removal for Westfield Township after he retired. Steve was around horses all his life, also being a member of the U.S. Trotting Association and the Ohio Harness Horse Association. He never knew a stranger and was known for always horsing around.He loved racehorses, especially a challenging trotter.
Steve is survived by his wife Angela (Turner) High who he married on June 17, 2002, in Cardington. He is also survived by his children; Chris Grooms of Huron, Hayden Reymer of Columbus, Karcy (Nathaniel) Simms of Cardington; he loved his grandchildren dearly, Olivia Grooms, Ethan Reymer, and Kyra Simms; siblings, Bob (Terri) Clark of Marengo, Dick (Pat) Clark of Cardington, Bud High of Cardington, Becky Thomas of Cardington, and Paula (Tim) Bonnell of Jeromesville; and special friends Brenda and Randy Miller who you could find them with for the last 20 years on Friday and Saturday nights for Euchre, dancing, or dinner dates.
Friends may call on Thursday June 22, 2023, at the Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow on Friday morning at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ed Colegrove officiating.
