Wilson Boyce Obituary

Wilson Henry Boyce
Canandaigua - Wilson Henry Boyce passed away unexpectedly, on Friday, March 19, 2021, at the age of 19.
Wilson touched everyone he came into contact with. At age 10, he created The Groton Times, a weekly newsletter that cracked everybody up and developed a strong following. A couple years later, he began selling water at the Found Flea Market in Ithaca where he became a summer fixture known affectionately to both vendors and customers as "Waterboy." Wilson also loved spending summers on Owasco Lake with his cousins, Emerson and Jed and grandparents, Jim and Wendy Kron. He attended Casowasco summer camp many years and was known by all as "Pickles."
Wilson loved music and theater. He played in multiple school bands and earned membership in the Tri-M Music Honor Society. He performed in several school productions and with the Ithaca theater company Running to Places. Wilson earned a scholarship from the Police Benevolent Association before studying New Media at FLCC. His degree will be conferred in May. In addition to music, theatre, photography, and videography, Wilson loved Disney World and Wegmans.
He will be sorely missed by loving parents, Nancy and Donald Boyce, and many others. Every time we see the color orange, we will think of Wilson.
If you would like to honor his memory, please contribute to the Canandaigua Academy PTSA Music Fund, which provides musical instruments for families who cannot afford to buy one. Information can be found at: https://sites.google.com/view/honorwilson/home. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Canandaigua. We will be attending the 20th show directed and produced by Mrs. Twitchell this coming weekend at GCS. We will certainly be remembering Wilson as "Chip" up on the stage...and it will bring a smile to all of us. He is not forgotten. Sending hugs. -Sheila and Family

We have not forgotten Wilson...and we smile when we hear his name. When all the kids were home for Christmas, we watched old dvds of various Groton Musicals (for old time's sake and laughter)...We all watched Wilson as Chip...and we all paused a moment to think of him...his smile...his kind heart. Wanted you to know that we have fond memories. Sending strength and hugs.

On behalf of TCAT, I am sending my deepest sympathies to Wilson's loved ones. TCAT hosted Wilson and his Dad, Don, on a tour of TCAT's facility in Ithaca in 2015. He definitely brightened our day! It was a privilege to meet such an incredibly bright young man; he educated me far more than I could have ever educated him about transit. Don and all other loved ones, please know that all of you are in our hearts and thoughts and that we wish you as much solace as possible during these sorrowful times. I am so thankful to have met Wilson. Although I did not know him long, I value the moments we spent together. He was so kind and always made me laugh at work. He was so funny. From working late shifts on register, or shopping all day, I loved our conversations and his genuine heart. My heart goes out to his parents, friends, and family. I am so sorry for your loss. His bright light will be missed dearly.

I had only a few conversations with Wilson and just from those few conversations you would be able to tell what a kind and bright spirit he was. May he rest in paradise. My deepest condolences to his family.

Dear Nancy and Don:
I am struggling with the words, but wanted to send our deepest sympathies. Wilson was such a fine young man. He truly cared about his community and always gave back...and then some! He was a classmate with our daughter and she always spoke highly of Wilson. To our eldest son, who played Gaston several years ago, Wilson will always be "Chip" from his days back on the GCS stage. May you find comfort in knowing that your son will not be forgotten, and that we will smile whenever we think of him. You are in our thoughts. -Sheila, Kevin, Zack, Nate, and Maggie

I am so saddened to hear of Wilson's passing, and that he will no longer enrich us with his intelligence, curiosity and good humor. Wilson was full of promise and was destined to accomplish great things in this world. He endeared himself to everyone he encountered, and all of his instructors and fellow students at FLCC will sorely miss him.

Wilson was one of the first friends I made at Groton Elementary. He was always so kind to everyone around him. One of my favorite memories was seeing him on stage with my brother, as he played Chip in Groton’s Beauty and the Beast. He had a great sense of humor and was an extremely talented boy. I am so sad to hear of his passing, and I offer my condolences, thoughts, and prayers to his loved ones.

This makes me so sad. Wilson was a student in my class last semester at FLCC. I always enjoyed chatting with him there and at Wegmans. My condolences to his family.
