Such a true hero, stood up to big shots who believe they are above the law. Most back down but not Hoppy. Thank you and may you rest in peace. I pray there are more out there with brains they actually use.

I am truly saddened to hear of Hoppy's passing. This country is in dire need of more men with the intestinal fortitude of Hoppy. He had the brass to call a spade a spade.

Hoppy always had a really great smile.
As one of the younger cousins I always looked up to him. I thought there was nothing he could not do. And I was right. When I first met Pat I was jealous. She was so very pretty and I knew she would hold on to him for the rest of his life. He was so kind to animals and loved horses and this made him one of my very favorite and of course Pat became a favorite real soon also. When Houston and Heather were very young I thought how neat to grow up with such a great gentle dad. He will be missed. Our Prayers go out to the entire family. Love to all Karis

Although we have been in and out of touch since college I visited with him on the phone and passed emails over the years. I worried about his personal safety during the Grand Jury episode. But he always stood his ground and did so without fear or regard to consequences, for he was a person of courage and strong principles.
Hoppy graduated a year ahead of me at Andrews High School where we were friends and we became roommates at UT my freshman year. We roomed together for over 2 years and he became like a brother to me. To say I will miss him is banal and inadequate. Thinking of his no longer being in this world saddens me beyond words.
To the family, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. May the Peace of The Lord be with each of you now and forever. To Hoppy, farewell dear friend. --KAI-- Walker
