James William Cork, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
A viewing will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, (303 E Shandon Ave, Midland, Texas 79705) A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Hamlin, (217 SW Ave B, Hamlin, Texas 79520).

I have nothing but fond memories of James 'Peabody' Cork. I was a year behind him in Hamlin schools. When DePriest school joined us at Hamlin High in the fall of 1965, we acquired a new bunch of lifetime friends. I saw Peabody at homecoming in 2023 I believe. I introduced him to my wife and he promptly told her that 'we' is family not friends! We are very fortunate to have known and have James Cork in our lives.
