Dear Wayne,

It was so strange to have our first Thanksgiving and Christmas without you. So many little things reminded us of you and the reality of your absence really hit home. I had already started my Christmas gift list and had your name there with ideas. I had yours & mom's name on the Christmas card list also. I could not cross your name off. It felt so wrong to address the card without your name. I remembered how you loved the chocolate covered cherries I used to send you from Germany before you became diabetic. Our family has missed your presence so much. It's so very difficult to think of mom without Wayne. I caught myself looking at the Japanese jellies and thinking, "Oh Wayne would love to try that one because he loves blackberry."...Then I remembered. I know I'm being selfish and wish you were here just a while longer so you could have come to Japan with mom and enjoyed a few more adventures. But I know you're in a much better place than we are and no longer suffering. You would be so proud of David & Erin. They have really been looking out for mom and that has been such a blessing for us since we can't be there in person. I guess I just want you to know that we love you and still think of you and pray for you. We miss you, but know you're happier where you're at. Love, Diana

Diane,

My prayers are with you. I loved Wayne so much. He was like a son to me. I have a lot of fond memories of the time he spent with our family and of Wayne, Junior and Tommy playing together and getting in trouble together. And teasing Judy and Linda Gayle. HA HA. Even as an adult he would come live with us for periods of times. I am glad he is not suffering and is at peace now. My prayers are with you and David. I enjoyed the time we spent together recently before you moved back to Texas. Take care and keep in touch.

Love,

Aunt O.

Dear Wayne,

Thank you so much for being there for us. It's so hard to say final words. The sparkle never faded from your eyes, your great attitude never changed, how were we able to finally accept the end was near? After flying thousands of miles no matter where we were in the world, we'd come rushing home to find you acting as if we were exagerating and you would go and prove to us how strong you really were. We would tease you about having 9 lives. The Lord needed you home this time. - Thank you for being a wonderful father figure and a true grandfather to my kids. You married my mother when I was already an adult, so our relationship was not one of a child/parent in that aspect, but you showed me in so many ways what a true father is. You were always steadfast, honest, hardworking, funny & strong. You showed my children your love and affection and they loved you so much for it. My most treasured memory of you is of you saying strongly "I am not afraid to go to Heaven. I am ready to party with the angels." Mom said you raised up and smiled over her shoulder. You were right, the angels were waiting for you. I am so glad that you got to come to Germany and see so many beautiful things in Europe on our travels together with my family. Thank you Wayne for always being there for my mom, for being a wonderful, funny, & loving person. We know the party is waiting on us, and we'll meet again one day. We honor you and remember you always,

Diana, Darrin, Garrett, Emily & Olivia

WAYNE'S DEATH HAS LEFT AN EMPTY SPOT IN OUR HEARTS. HE SUFFERED GREATLY THIS PAST YEAR, BUT BECAUSE OF GOD'S PROMISE, HE NOW HAS A NEW MANSION IN HEAVEN, AND A BRAND NEW BODY. I THANK GOD FOR GIVING US WAYNE. HE WAS THE BEST BROTHER YOU COULD EVER ASK FOR. HE SET EXAMPLES BY THE WAY HE LIVED HIS LIFE, ONE DAY AT A TIME. WORLDLY THINGS DIDN'T MATTER ALOT TO WAYNE, HE JUST LOVED LIFE TO THE FULLEST. HIS SMILE AND LAUGHTER WILL ALWAYS BE FELT IN MY HEART. I KNOW HIS LIFE HAS JUST BEGUN. WE WILL MISS HIM BUT, WE WILL SEE HIM AGAIN IN GLORY. I ASK GOD TO COMFORT DIANNE AND DAVID, ERIN AND ETHAN IN THE DAYS AHEAD.

WAYNE'S IMMMEDIATE FAMILY COULD NOT ATTEND HIS SERVICE IN MIDLAND, TEXAS SO A MEMORIAL SERVICE WAS HELD IN MEMORY OF HIM AT ZENORIA BAPTIST CHURCH, GEORGETOWN, LA.

Wayne was a good man and a great addition to our family. He always had a smile on his face, even during the difficult times. He said he was ready to dance with the angels and now he is. I will miss him and remember him fondly. He was my favorite brother in law. God Bless him and all the lives he touched.

"Nothing in my hands I bring, simply to thy cross I cling....." Wayne understood these words from an old hymn and he was a wonderful testimony of God's perfect love. He will be greatly missed. I am blessed to have known him. I love you Dianne and praying for you daily.

It is a sad time for us all to see Wayne go but we now know that he is in a better place and he is full of happiness and feels no pain. Wayne said in the hospital the last time he was in LA that "The Lord has a purpose for this and Jesus will take care of me." We just have to remember his words now and find comfort in them. We'll be praying for Diane, David & the entire family.

Love,

Mandi & Bubba
