Joanna DeSalvo Cockerham passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in Independence, Louisiana, at the age of 91. She was born on Wednesday, August 8, 1934 in Independence, Louisiana to the late Bessie and Henry DeSalvo. She was a resident of Independence, Louisiana.
Joanna is survived by her children, Thomas Cockerham (Karen), Kenny Cockerham (Leatrix), and Cynthia Zayak (Randy); grandchildren, Ashley Callegan (Chase), Karis Reeves (Josh), Jennifer Richard (Timmy), and Samantha Whiddon (Jacob); and great-grandchildren, Brielle Callegan, Hannah Whiddon, Cayden Callegan, and Charleigh Whiddon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred L. Cockerham; and parents, Bessie and Henry DeSalvo.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11:00 am. until services begin at 1:00 pm
Interment will follow in Colonial Cemetery Mausoleum, Independence, Louisiana.
