Mr. Michael Wayne Hensley, age 73, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017, at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Hensley was born in Warwick County, VA, on December 16, 1943, to the late Luther Franklin and Mary Sutphin Hensley. He served our country in the United States Air Force, was the former owner/operator of Friendly Heating and Cooling and was a member of Bannertown Baptist Church. Mr. Hensley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed. Among the many who will always cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Peggy Felts Hensley; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Brad Crouse, and Laura and Mike Marion; a stepson, Tim Watson and wife Desirae; grandchildren, Jarred Beverly, Sydni Smith, Angelica Crouse, Gabriel Crouse, Audrey Marion, and Carrie Marion; step-grandchildren, Charles Watson and wife Leigh Ann, James Watson, Zachary Crouse, and Caroline Crouse, step-great-grandchildren, McKenna Watson, and William Watson; a sister, Marcia Collins; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Linda Hensley, and David and Gay Hensley and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Bannertown Baptist Church by Rev. Mickey Cogdill and Rev. Frank Hensley. Burial will follow in Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from noon until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Bannertown Baptist Church at 1834 Westfield Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030 or to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Techonolgy Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. We are so very sorry about Michael's passing. He was a fine man, volunteering in the community as a board member for the Four Way Fire Dept. We've known him and his family for many years and he will be sorely missed.
