Judith C. McCracken died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Crest Nursing Home.
Judith was born Feb. 2, 1945, in San Diego, to Marjorie (Burgett) Noland and Phillip Kenny. In 1949, her family moved to Butte. She attended Whittier Element-ary, East Junior High, and graduated from Butte High School in 1963. Following her graduation, she earned a scholarship to the Walt Disney Art Academy in California.
On Aug. 17, 1963, she married James J. McCracken in Butte. She helped run her husband's family businesses, McCracken Metals Inc., and Mac's Motel. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, gardening and reading, but her greatest joy was being a stay-at-home mom who was very dedicated to her family.
Judith was preceded in death by her husband, James J. McCracken; mother and father, Marjorie Noland and Phillip Kenny; stepfather, Bob Noland; and infant brother, Roger Kenny.
She is survived by her children, Colleen McCracken of Arizona, Sean and Tina McCracken of Lewistown, and Rachel and Rich Brown of Missoula; ex-son-in-law, Jay Condo of Colorado; grandchildren, Sonja McCracken of Lewistown, Megan and Shelly Condo of Butte, Casey McGhee of Butte, Travis Condo of Helena, Darrion and Kris McCracken of Lewistown, and Xander Brown of Missoula; great-grandchildren, Chloie Mahkuk of Georgetown Lake and Lylea Ryea McCracken of Lewistown; siblings, Mike and Sue Kenny of Butte, Pat and Sheila Kenny of Butte, Dennis Kenny of Butte, and Vicki and Mike Woods of Vancouver, Wash.; sister-in-law, Nancy O'Neil of Butte; nieces and nephews, Michael and Sarah Kenny of Butte, Joey Kenny of Seattle, Cynthia and Jerard Grove of Billings, Kim Withiam of Springfield, Ore., Trisha Kenny of Butte, Vicki and Steve Beckman of Boise, Idaho, Dale Kenny of Germany, Gary Kenny of Butte, and Nathan and Nicholas Woods of Vancouver, Wash.; and special people, Ashleigh Kenny of Butte, Angela Belles Story of Billings, Jamie Moran of Butte, Darlene of Butte, Mike Gamble of Butte, Allen LeFrench of Butte, Chris Walsh of Butte, and Jill Messer of Billings. The family is grateful to Paula, Kelly, Kyra, Mary Ann and the staff at Crest Nursing Home.
In accordance with Judith's wishes, cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be spread, along with her loving dog, Rockie, in the same special place as her mother and her infant brother. No formal services will be held. A memorial luncheon will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday. Please call 533-5448 or 593-0304 for details and location.
Memorial donations may be made to any organization dealing with the needy of the donor's choice. A plaque in memory of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend has been placed on the Women's Memorial Wall at Our Lady of the Rockies.
