Terrance Lee "Terry" Dunfee
July 19, 1939 - June 20, 2022
Terrance Lee "Terry" Dunfee passed away Monday afternoon, June 20th, 2022 in St. James Healthcare. He was born in Butte, (in the same house as his mother), July 19, 1939 to Monroe "Buck" and Helen (Whalen) Dunfee. Testing out his rebellious wings, he dropped out of high school in his junior year. His father told him, he either had to go back and graduate, get a job, or join the service. He also added "join the Army or the Navy, just don't join the Marines." Terry went to the Marine Corps office the next morning and signed up; he served in the U.S. Marine Corp for six years. While in the Marines, he went to night school and finished his high school courses and received his diploma. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Butte. He married Patsy Harper, and they had two children. They later divorced. He worked various jobs before starting at the Montana Power as payroll clerk. He founded the Montana Power Credit Union, now Northwestern Credit Union. He retired from MPC as Director of Payroll Department.
Terry married Patti Robinson, and after retiring they moved to Georgetown Lake. They often travelled and particularly enjoyed Cabo San Lucas. Terry lived most of his life in Butte, and was very proud of his Irish heritage. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians for many years and marched with the bagpipers.
Terry and Patti moved to Yakima, Washington where Patti passed away. Despite having family and many wonderful friends in Washington, Butte was calling him home. Terry returned to Butte in 2019.
He was active in many organizations and was especially proud to be involved with the Lady of the Rockies. He was an avid bowler and golfer, and was still golfing (as much as weather permitted in Butte).
He also had a great love for animals and was well known at the dog parks. To quote one of the many friends he met at the dog park, "no dog park will ever be the same."
Terry was preceded in death by his wife Patti, his parents, Buck and Helen Dunfee and his very best friend "Toby Dogg."
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Ralph Warnstrom of Butte, son and daughter-in-law, Shaun and Treasur Dunfee of Richland, Washington; step-children: Stephanie and Kevin Norman, Nicole and Doug Donegan; grandchildren: Annie (Hugh) Daniels; Marisa and Austin Dunfee; Ciara Norman, Calleigh Norman, Cole Donegan, Cade Donegan; great-grandchildren: Will and Letti Daniels. Brothers, Skip Dunfee, Jim Dunfee, and sisters: Lynn (Dennis) Doherty, Gino Dunfee. Also, numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Terry had many great friends, including his golfing buddy Don St. John, his good friends in Yakima, Nick Lecuyer, and Richard Bohl. He was also blessed with great neighbors who looked after him and the family thanks you very much. Special thanks to Dan and Sally Hollis, who made him a part of their family.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday morning, July 1, 2022 in St. Ann Catholic Church at 11 o'clock. Friends may call at church beginning at 10 o'clock. Memorials may be made to your local animal shelter or to Our Lady of the Rockies. Express condolences at www.wayrynen-richards.com.
