July 31, 1949 - August 4, 2024

MUSCATINE, IA – Douglas Howell, 75, passed away on August 4, 2024, at the University of Iowa, surrounded by his family.

Per his wishes, there will be no visitation. There will be a private graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made in Doug's honor to his family. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Doug was born on July 31, 1949, in Muscatine, the son of E. Roger Howell and June Kent Howell. Doug met, Gerianne Van Veen and married in 1970, sharing 53 years together.

Doug was a 1967 graduate of Muscatine High School. He worked for Grain Processing for 41 years.

Doug played fast pitch softball, bass fished, hunted, and bowled (having a 300 game). Doug was also a member of West Liberty Golf and Country Club for 38 years having a hole in one.

Doug will be deeply missed by his wife; 3 children, Jason (Heather Bowdre) Howell, Sarah Paul, and Josh (Jaime) Howell; seven grandchildren, Tanner (Lexy) Howell, Caleb (Jennifer) Paul, Ella Howell, Emileigh Howell, Mitchell Howell, Grant Howell, and Joel Howell; one great-granddaughter, Paisley Howell; and sister, Janet Brennan of West Liberty.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
