Stephen A. Marks Sr.

February 7, 1952 - January 10, 2024

Stephen A. Marks Sr., 71, of Muscatine passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. While wintering in South Padre Island, TX.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM at the American Legion 110 S. Houser St. Muscatine, IA 52761.

He retired from Grain Processing Corp. after 30 years of service as a maintenance man. He was very involved in the union including serving as union President.

He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Steve managed American Legion Post #27 in Muscatine for twenty years. He is also a life member of the Honorary Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed helping the veterans including escorting veterans to Washington D.C. on the WWII HONOR TOURS.

Steve was born February 7, 1952 in Muscatine to Leslie and Dorothy (Everett) Marks. He was one of ten children. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and living on the river. Spending time with his friends Bob McConnaha, Don Hartley, and Jim Jacobs to name a few.

He married Linda Dahnke in 1970 and later divorced. His companion for 20+ years, Pam Ramer was at his side when he passed.

He has two sons, Steve Marks Jr., married to Becky (Schreurs) and Tim Marks married to Jamie (Alberts). Two granddaughters; Jenna, married to Michael Fuller, Emily Marks. And one great-grandson Kayden Fuller.

He was treated like a dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa by Pam's family that includes, Kim and Russ Brossart, Allison and Mike Ritchie, Ken and Sara Elshoff; grandchildren: Kenzie and Jeremy Meyers, Frankie and Jason Hauschild, Nash Jones, Jada and Jager Elshoff, Nikki and Jason Friend, Jayde Muller and Blake Brossart; great-grandchildren, Brynlee Meyer, Lincoln and Levi Friend, and Oliver Muller. One deceased grandson, Cody Geertz.

He is survived by one brother, Gene, and three sisters, Joanne Askam, Patty Bohlen, and Theresa Marks Turkington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Lyle, Donnie, David, and Jimmy; one sister, Francis Duggan.

Steve was a simple, fun loving soul, and would never ask for anything so instead of sending flowers or gifts please give to your favorite charities in his honor
