ALEXANDER VINCENT MAYER
AGE: 69 SAYREVILLE
Alexander Vincent Mayer, 69, of Sayreville passed away Saturday Feb. 13, 2010 at his home in Toms River where he resided for the past several months. Born in New York City he had resided in New Brunswick before moving to Sayreville in 1954. Mr Mayer was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving from 1958 to 1964, was a member of the Sayreville Sportsman Club, big time Giants and Rangers fan and a communicant of Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church in Sayreville. Al was co-owner of Sayreville Bar for 45 years and was also book keeper for Mayer Catering.
He is predeceased by his parents, Bela and Ann Mayer. Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, the former Margaret Shurina; his children and their spouses, William & Sharon Mayer of Jackson, Raquel "Kelly" & Mark Delgado of Sayreville and Michelle & Matthew De Mild of Salt Point, New York; his grandchildren, Samantha, Meranda, Conner, Christine, Justin, Victoria, Apryl, and Alexandria; his brother, Walter Mayer and his wife Donna Jeanne of Morganville; his sister, Ann Weber and her husband Kenneth, of North Port, Florida; his sister in laws, Mary O'Halloran, Liz Shurina, Diane Shurina and Debra Campanile and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday 8:45am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin followed by a 9:30am mass at Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church in Sayreville with private cremation to follow. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations in Alexander's name be made at the funeral home where the family will select the charity of their choice.
