My condolences to the entire Flanagan family, May many happy and warm memories comfort you in your loss.
I had the opportunity to work with and for Ed , while we were employed as Postal Inspectors.
He was a good man, who always treated all with respect and dignity.
His accomplishments as a Postal Inspector, Assistant Inspector in Charge and Inspector In Charge were significant and something you can all be proud of.

Today my friends and family celebrated the life of Edward Earl Flanagan as he was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Trenton New Jersey. He was the epitome of the words "lead by example" and he beat all odds being raised in the not always so kind streets of Chicago. He put meaning to the words father figure. He embodied the words "sacrifice for your children". He embodied the words "always do the right thing". He embodied the words "each one teach one". He embodied the words "lift my brother for he is not heavy". I was blessed in my formative and adult years to have had a best friend, father figure and role model like him. To be able to carry the lessons he taught with me for the rest of my life is truly a blessing. He will be immensely missed but his devotion to God, his teachings and his ways of sharing love and joy will always be remembered. Thank you for touching my life with your spark. Rest in peace my friend, Edward Earl Flanagan.
