Floyd Randolph Obituary

(Courier News)

FLOYD S. RANDOLPH
AGE: 81 BLAIRSTOWN
Floyd S. "Randy" Randolph, 81 years of age, of Blairstown, passed away Monday (Nov. 3, 2008) at Newton Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bound Brook on Nov. 28, 1926, where he grew up on a farm along the Weston Canal.
Randy served in the Armed Forces in Germany and at the end of World War II, he served in the military police during the Nuremburg trials. He met his wife, Nancy Thwaites Randolph, on a blind date that led to a 56-year marriage. Nancy predeceased him, passing away in December 2006. They started their family in Middlesex and finished raising their family in Flemington. Randy and Nancy retired to Blairstown in 1993, where they were both active members of the Blairstown Presbyterian Church. Randy belonged to IUOE Local 825 for more than 50 years and worked as an operating and lead engineer. He had an early interest in bird hunting, but his true sporting love was fishing on the Salmon River in Pulaski, with his sons and grandsons, for salmon and steelhead trout.
Randy was a 32nd degree Master Mason of Darcy Lodge No. 37 F & AM with memberships in the Scottish and York Rites. In addition, he was a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon; and a Shriner, a member of the Mystic Shrine in Crescent Temple of Trenton. He was a volunteer firefighter in Middlesex, serving as past fire chief of the Beachwood Company in the 1950s and '60s.
Randy will be lovingly remembered by his family; sons, Jeffrey F. and his wife, Therese, of Easton, Pa., Scott and his wife, Patty, of Concord, N.C., Kurt F. of Hope; daughters, Susan Darago of Flemington and Robin Randolph of Johnsonburg; grandchildren, Katey, Ben, Bryan, Eick, Tyler, Jonathan, Rebecca, Sarah and Lee; and a brother, Bertram, and his wife, Iris, of Baldwinsville, N.Y., formerly of Flemington.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at First Presbyterian Church of Blairstown, 1 Main St., Blairstown.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to American Cancer Society, 7 Ridgedale Ave., Cedar Knolls, NJ 07827 or American Diabetes Association of New Jersey, 19 Schoolhouse Road, Somerset, NJ 08873, or a charity of your choice in Randy's memory.
