George Burrows Obituary

George T. Burrows

AGE: 71 • Manasquan

George T. Burrows, 71, of Manasquan, journeyed home on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at his residence after a long battle with cancer.

He leaves to miss him; his wife of 49 years, Joyce Ann (Ward); two daughters, Loree Burrows and April Bennett and her husband David; granddaughter, Katie; and his sister, Sally Burrows. George will miss playing his Bluegrass music with his friends and fishing with his "little" local buddies. He was one of the nine founding members of The Bluegrass & Old Time Music Association of New Jersey. George loved to play his Mandoline and fresh water fishing, but most of all, he loved his family. He retired from the Freehold Township Road Department after 25 years and was also an Electrician by trade, which he learned while serving in the U.S. Navy. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 24 at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South St., Manasquan. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent. In lieu of flowers, donations to 1st Baptist Church, 232 Main St., Matawan, NJ 07747 OR 1st Baptist Church, 47 South St., Manasquan, NJ 08736.
