Joseph Lurch Obituary

Joseph Lurch

AGE: 58 • Wall Township

Joseph Lurch, 58, of Wall Township, passed away suddenly Saturday, July 26, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of Wall Township and well-known and loved within the community. He co-owned the family business of Lertch Wrecking with his brother Douglas. Joseph has made many memories with his family and friends camping, paint balling, dirt biking, four wheeling, and barbecuing at Lertch Wrecking, which is more frequently referred to as "The Yard". He also enjoyed hunting, motocross, mountain biking, and spending time with his first and only grandchild, Annalise "Ladybug". He will be remembered by his energetic and boisterous personality, as well as his overwhelming generosity. Every person in Joe's life loved and appreciated him for his indescribable altruism. Joe was happy-go-lucky and always had a smile on his face. He is predeceased by his mother, Lois Lurch, and his father, Clarence A. Lurch. Surviving are his six children, Heather Anne Lurch, Ryan Joseph Lurch, Gregory Thomas Lurch, Alexandria Marie Lurch, Niki Jacqueline Lurch, Joey Michelle Lurch, his granddaughter, Annalise Lurch, his siblings Lois Jean Miller, Frank Lurch, Donald and Nancy Lurch, Deborah and Alex Fritz, and Douglas and Jeanne Lurch, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews, especially his nephew, Mickey Harned. Family and friends are called to celebrate the life of Joseph Lurch from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 30 at Ely Funeral Home in Neptune. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the Lurch family and friends. So sad when I received the phone call Saturday night of Joey's passing. Joey and his family have always held a special place in my heart and will continue to do so forever. Like so many have written, I will always remember that cute little smile and the smirk that often followed. Washing the Buick Electra 225 every weekend with kerosene, the Endoro races, the time charts, the time Don and I where at the wrong pit stop with your gas, (not a great day but we often laughed about it later.) the first Montessa, the "yard" memories for all up there. A lot of memories for all to cherish my dear friend. Your journey was shortened but it was a good one and your legacy will live forever in all our hearts!
Luv Ya! Kathy G .

I am so shocked to hear of Joe's passing. We knew each other for 27 or 28 years. I knew him through good times and bad times. He was always a pleasure to be with. It is difficult to grasp his passing. I hope that his soul is in peace. I am thankful to have known him.

July 30, 2014

A larger than life person, Only met him a few times but was always impressed with his friendly personality and a smile that made you feel welcome to be in his presence! So sorry for your family's loss.

July 30, 2014

Our deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to Joe's family and friends. The news of his passing hit us like a dagger through the heart.

Alex, Niki, Joey....you were just getting started in your lives when we were most active with your dad and I can still see the sparkle in his eyes when he watched each of you.

Heather, Ryan, Greg.....as the teenagers you were, at that time, you may not have known it but your dad always sang praises and spoke very proudly about each of you to us, so you see, you really didn't know it all ;)

Although it has been many years since we enjoyed riding at "The Yard", building the practice track, giant snowmen in the front yard, racing go carts around Rick's dirt track, making a Dunkin Donuts run or simply riding around looking for deer......our memories of Joe are fond and will never be forgotten.

Even though he is no longer in our presence, I'm sure there is a new "Wrecking Crew" being formed as we celebrate the good times we all shared with him.

On July 26, 2014 we lost a terrific father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He had a heart as big as the world....and a personality to match. I'm thankful that we were able to be a small part of it but it still hurts knowing that our friend is no longer with us.

Thanks for the memories Joe and all that you did, for everyone. We'll miss you friend
