Joseph J. Moravek

AGE: 82 • Southbury, CT

Joseph J. Moravek, 82, of Southbury, CT, died Friday, April 13, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of the late Frances (Stallone) Moravek. Joseph was born October 17, 1929 in Perth Amboy, NJ, son of the late Joseph and Sophie (Lattal) Moravek. He has resided in Southbury for five years, previously living in Durham, NH for over 20 years. He was a retired engineer having worked in aerospace engineering at ARMA for 20 years and also at Data General working in computer systems. Joseph was a serious musician and enjoyed swing music. He played the saxophone and clarinet and played in several bands and he also enjoyed woodworking.

He leaves four daughters, Mary Ellen Olpp of Bethlehem, PA, Paula Moravek of Hopedale, MA, Susan Moravek of Somers, NY and Joanne Moravek of Waterbury, CT; a brother, Robert Moravek of Spring Lake, NJ and a sister, Virginia Moravek of Somerset, NJ. He also leaves two granddaughters, Eleanor Greenbaum and Hannah Olpp and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 15 at the Southbury Funeral Home, 235 Main St. North from 3-5pm, Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm and Tuesday 11-1pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Rd., Suite 105, Middletown, CT 06457.
