My childhood memories in Carteret include many of a girl who lived down the street. She was always smiling and brought joy and enthusiasm to every room she entered. Her love of life; full-hearted friendship; and wonderful personality was a perfect combination to make anyone forget their troubles. She never strived to grab attention; n...ever jumped to be the leader but in her loving and simple way she captured the attention of everyone and led people to better days just by her presence. Today, the world lost Laura Burke. The flags will not fly at half mast; it will not be covered on the news; people will not be lining the streets to bid her farewell. But, as I remember my childhood times, with a tear rolling down my cheek, I know countless people are doing the same. Laura gently touched so many and now has the touch of an angle. God bless you, Laura. You’ll be missed.

Aunt Laura-

I came across a wonderful quote I would like to share.

He who has gone,
so we but cherish his memory, abides with us,
more potent, nay, more present than the living man.
-Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Thank you for allowing me to be by your side during this emotional journey. I am grateful for and cherish the memories we have made and time spent. YOU have made me a stronger and better person. For that I again give thanks. I love you and am glad you are in a better place.

Aunt Laura,
I love and miss you so much. You're an angel - and you we're truely heaven sent. I remember our memories from "take your daughter to work day" and all the fun activities we would do, the holidays and times we've spent together, your love for grape jolly ranchers & the time you watch "A Christmas Story" for 24 hours straight. Your a beautiful woman and an amazing person. Please watch over the family, and listen to our prayers. It's not goodbye , it's i`ll see you later... you will never be forgotten and you will live on through each individual in our family, and through your family. You've made an impact on every person in the family, and most likely every person you have ever met. I`d be selfish to say I wish you were still here with everyone, I`m thankful your not in pain anymore and your at peace. I will miss & love you every day for the rest of my life. Your my inspiration & my motivation. Rest in the SWEETEST peace Aunt Laura. You'll always be my angel*
