Louis Guzinski Obituary

Louis Lee Guzinski

Cedar Grove and formerly of Wall Twp. - Louis Guzinski, aged 38, of Cedar Grove passed away in Montclair, NJ on January 6th, 2021 after an unexpected complication from long-time cancer.

Louis was born to Jananne (nee Burlingame) Guzinski and Robert Guzinski in Wall, NJ. He earned a degree in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology in 2005.

As a brilliant software engineer, he contributed to several companies and one was acquired as a startup. He was able to pursue his own career path after that, writing code for his projects and helping his partner edit books. He was often selfless, thinking of others before himself, and never gave up in the face of adversity. He loved animals deeply, especially cats and turtles, and had so much musical talent that he played viola, cello, upright bass, and bass guitar. He climbed to the top of Mount Fuji in Japan and Yosemite falls in California, sailed the Mediterranean Sea, and visited palaces in Spain. He taught himself to walk again after a health issue and, less than two years later, was back to riding horses in Iceland and hiking to temples in Japan. Louis beat the odds many times with grace and grit, and surprised people with both his talent and modesty. He graciously donated knowledge, genetics, and experience to cancer research to help other people survive in the future. He will be immensely missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Louis is survived by his partner for 17 years, Laura Palmer of Cedar Grove, and their beloved cats, Wintermuse, Puccini, Seti, and Equinox, as well as by his mother, Jananne Guzinski of Wall, NJ, and his sister, Janelle Lee. Also surviving are Pat Lee, his brother-in-law, his niece Vanessa, his nephews Colin and Patrick, and his uncle Dennis Burlingame. Louis was preceded in death by his father Robert Guzinski, grandmother Marion Elizabeth Burlingame, and uncle Louis Burlingame.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, January 12th, 2021 at O'Brien Funeral Home 2028, Hwy 35, Wall, NJ from 2-5pm.

Donations in Louis's name can be made to the Turtleback Zoo via the Zoological Society of New Jersey at www.zoologicalsocietyofnj.org, as he was a lover of animals and their Sea Turtle Recovery efforts.
