Mark J. Mihalkovitz

AGE: 50 • Belmar

Mark J. Mihalkovitz, 50, of Belmar passed away with his loving family by his side on November 10, 2014. Born in New Brunswick, Mark grew up in Lakewood before enlisting in the United States Navy, where he traveled frequently during his service. He was very handy, enjoyed renovating homes and loved to fish. Mark owned and operated his own heating and cooling businesses. He then worked at the Naval Weapons Station Earle in New Jersey. Most recently, Mark was Maintenance Supervisor at the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area. He was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post #2 in Jackson NJ and served as Post Commander 2007-2008. Mark was a loving husband, son, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Mark is predeceased by his father Alexander E. Mihalkovitz. He leaves behind his adored wife, Michelle Mihalkovitz; his mother Ruth Marie; two brothers, Alex Mihalkovitz and his wife Lorena, Kirk Mihalkovitz; three sisters, Susan Sanford and her husband Mark, Janet Mihalkovitz, Diane Reves and her husband Jeff; six nieces and nephews, Natalie, Amanda, Alexander Mark, Luke, Samantha and Andrew; his in-laws William and Joan Ortwein; his sister-in-law Danielle Ortwein; and two aunts, Shirley Hendricks and Marilyn Hemery.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 9am to 11am at the Oceanside Memorial Home, located at 2014 Main Street, Lake Como NJ 07719. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Deborah Heart and Lung Center. My dear Mihalkovitz family! Our hearts ache with you! Praying for peace and comfort! Wish Mark, Hunter and I could all be there! Shannon and My mom too! We are sending all our love and hugs! I think of that song Heaven Must of Needed a Hero! Mark is now a Hero in Heaven! Ruthie, you have the best kids and grandkids in the world! Love you!
