Phyllis Abel Obituary
Whitehouse Station - Phyllis R. Abel, age 83 of Whitehouse Station, NJ died Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ.
Born in Plainfield, NJ she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Ethel (Lesser) Roth. She is predeceased by her brothers Martin, Fred, and David.
Phyllis lived in Piscataway prior to moving to Whitehouse Station 41 years ago.
She worked as a travel coordinator for Bell Labs for many years.
A member of the Flemington Baptist Church, she also frequently attended mass with her husband Joe, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station.
Phyllis was an avid reader, and an accomplished seamstress. Her interests were of a philanthropic nature. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; a non-profit charitable organization, and she was a big supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and numerous Veterans Organizations.
She is survived by Joseph, her beloved husband of 65 years; her three sons, Joseph T. of Upper Black Eddy, PA, Robert of Forked River, NJ, John and his wife, Susan of Niantic, CT; her two daughters, Deborah Masterton and her husband, Robert of East Brunswick and Elizabeth Harrington and her husband, Bill of Piscataway. She is also survived by her 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.
Burial will be in Newell Cemetery in Stanton.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made through IN MEMORY OF at
