Robert Koerner Obituary

Robert Koerner

AGE: 85 • Voorhees

Robert Schofield Koerner of Voorhees, NJ, formerly of Ocean Twp., passed away on July 7, 2015. He was 85. Bob was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and dedicated much of his time to church activities. He enthusiastically served in many capacities, including Bishop of the Eatontown and Cherry Hill, NJ congregations. Bob was born December 29, 1929 to Rudolf and Ethel Flynn Koerner and raised in Camden, New Jersey. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, served in the US Navy, and attended Peirce College and Monmouth University. He married Sydney Gaston Koerner in 1970 and raised his family in Ocean Township, NJ. Most of Bob's career was spent in advertising and marketing in the newspaper business, and he worked for the Asbury Park Press for 34 years. After retiring from there, he was president of his own retail consulting firm. He was a founding member of the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council in New Jersey. Bob's sense of humor was keen, but never demeaning, and he instilled in his children the importance of family, integrity, kindness, diplomacy, and fairness. His work ethic was strong, and he took pride in his work. Bob's avocations included golf, family history, racquetball, and music. He was a handy man, little league coach, flutist, and music teacher. With his wife, Sydney, Bob attended nearly all of his children's and grandchildren's graduations and weddings and spent many summers traveling around the country to visit them. Bob's family was his top priority.

He is survived by his wife, Sydney Koerner; children Bobbyanne Koerner (Dan Clark), Melissa Koerner (Bob Henson), Scott F. Koerner, Ethalinda (Steven) Cannon, and Scott G. Koerner; grandchildren Andrew Pace (Judy Cheang), Thomas Pace (Sofia Nystrom), Michelle Pace (Jason McAdams); Logan Hauenstein (Jody Bell), Lindy (Chris) Kincaid, Duncan (Betsy) Hauenstein, Adam (Maria) Koerner, Blake Koerner, Nathan Koerner, and Joshua Koerner, and seven great-grandchildren. Bob spent his whole life sharing his love with his family, and we will always love him beyond measure.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 12 noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 260 East Evesham Road in Cherry Hill, NJ. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ. The family requests donations to be made in Bob's memory to the Humanitarian Aid Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Arrangements are under the direction of the Henry Funeral Home, Audubon, NJ www.henryfuneral.com.
