Robert J. Lasky passed peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014. He was 93. He was born in Perth Amboy, and he resided in East Brunswick most of his life. Mr. Lasky was employed at the Ford Motor Company in Edison for 30 years. He was an active member and officer of UAW Chapter 980. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of WWII, having served from 1942 to 1945. He served as flight engineer/ crew chief with the CBI Flying Tigers. His missions took him over the Himalayan mountains, leading to the nickname "Hump Pilots". He received two Bronze Stars, the Distinguished Unit Badge and Good Conduct Medal for his service as Sergeant in the Asiatic Pacific theatre. Bob also belonged to Joyce Kilmer Post #25, American Legion, Milltown. Mr. Lasky was a communicant of St. Bartholomew RC Church in East Brunswick. Bob enjoyed life to the fullest. He and wife Mary recently celebrated 67 years of marriage. Bob and Mary travelled extensively. He enjoyed his grandchildren and loved animals. Bob loved to fly and flew his first solo flight from Princeton Airport at the age of 58. He was an avid bowler and competitor. He made the best Scotch Sours. He loved Hawaii, and he loved Mary.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Mary (neé Goushy) Lasky; his son, Robert P. Lasky and his wife, Phyllis, of South Brunswick and his sister, Frances V. Vibronek. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Ryan, Keith and wife Jessica, Sarah, Kim and husband Roberto; and one great-grandchild, Makayla.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 8:45 a.m. in The Brunswick Memorial Home, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass at St. Bartholomew Church, East Brunswick.
