Walter "Charlie" Rechko

AGE: 90 • Iselin

Walter "Charlie" Rechko, 90, of Iselin, passed away on June 9, 2011. Born in Throop, PA, Walter was an avid golfer. He served in the 4th Marine Division during WWII, seeing action at Roi-Namur, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. Walter worked for Western Electric in Kearny, for 43 yrs before retiring in 1984. He served as 4th ward committeeman in Iselin and was a member of St. Cecelia Church. Walter was also a member of the Knights of Columbus - 3rd degree - and a member of the Iselin VFW - post 2636.

Surviving are his wife Jean of 62 yrs. , son Thomas, daughter Joyce (Rechko) Silverman and her husband Randy; and grandchildren Matthew, Jess, and Victoria Silverman. He is also survived by a sister Helen Barna of Simpson, PA.

Funeral Services will take place Wednesday at 9:30am at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 200 Cooper Ave., Iselin followed by a 10:00am Funeral Mass at St. Cecelia's RC Church, Iselin. Entombment is at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation is Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105

Jean & Family, We are so sorry to hear of the loss of Charlie, He was a great person, Joe and I enjoyed working with him down at the VFW with Ziggy, He would always make jokes. He was always happy and smiling. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and you family. He will be missed. R.I.P. Charlie.
