Jack, my dad and several Phelps Dodge engineers were deer hunting partners and Jack was the first of that group to make the 13 year-old me feel welcomed in the hunting camp. Some of my fondest memories of the next several years as a teenager were the annual camp and the stories told by the men.
I also knew and admired Jack professionally as he guided PD through tough years - his legacy has positively, (certainly from managements' perspective), influenced labor relations in the Southwest from confrontation to cooperation.
My deepest condolences to John, Marguerite and the family.

"My héros have always been cowboys."

I´ve always had a fascination with the Ladd´s windmill and legacy as Cochise County cowboys. My father was in the same class as Jack at the Bisbee High school and my mother was in the same class as Marie. Jack was senior class president.
