Carrollton - Betty L. Plogger, age 86, of Edwardsville, Il. and formerly of Carrollton, Il. died late Wednesday evening (February 1, 2023) in Edwardsville, Il.
She was born November 15, 1936 in Carrollton, Il. daughter of the late Oran and Dorothy Johnson Varble.
She married Russell "Gene" Plogger on June 11, 1955 and he preceded her in death on September 15, 2011.
Surviving is a son, Russ Plogger of Carrollton, Il., a daughter, Donna Hughes of Troy, Il.; 6 grandchildren: Adam (Elizabeth) Hughes, Jessica Hughes, Jacob (Katie) Hughes, Chris Plogger, Kimberly Mendez (Hazael), Kelly Plogger; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Connie Bishop of Winchester, Il., Bernice Kitson (David) of Godfrey, Il., Ruth Loy of Jerseyville, Il., Dorothy Ray of Michigan; and her beloved dog, Annabelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Diana; a great-grandchild, Skyla; sisters, Mary Goodall, Annie Haneline, Margaret Varble, Catherine Vice; brothers, Roger, Paul, and Gene Varbel.
Betty worked for Columbiana Seed near Eldred for many years. She loved shopping, gardening, and watching deer. Betty was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Carrollton, Il.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday (February 10, 2023) at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Carrollton, Il. Burial will be in Memorial Garden Cemetery near Eldred, Il. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and sent to Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, Box 112, Carrollton, Il. 62016.
