Roger Dunham Obituary
Jacksonville - Roger Kent Dunham, 61, of Jacksonville, IL passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022, in Camdenton, MO.
He was born Oct. 31, 1960, in Colorado Springs, CO the son of Reginald Kent and Linda Watson Dunham. He married Catherine "Cathy" Doubler on July 3, 1993, in Woodhull, IL and she survives.
He is also survived by his mother of South Jacksonville; two brothers and one sister, Reginald Khoy Dunham of Springfield, Lee Anne Dunham of Lawrence, KS, and John Marshall Dunham of DeQuincy, LA; niece and nephew, Amanda (Jason) Renner of Manchester and Nathan Dunham (Alex Roberts) of Jacksonville; great nephew and niece, Dakota and Lillyann Kline, both of Manchester; and Camri Anderson of Maryville, TN, who he considered a niece. He was preceded in death by his father; and his brother-in-law, Kenny "Woody" Woodlief.
Roger was a 1979 graduate of Jacksonville High School and attended and graduated from Eastern Illinois University and then Lincoln Land Community College. He first worked as an athletic trainer for MacMurray College and then worked for EMI in Jacksonville. He was currently employed by SIU Medicine in Jacksonville. Roger loved sports in general, but the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, and Dallas Cowboys were his teams to cheer on, win or lose. Golf was his passion and he loved sharing that passion with anyone that would listen. He loved his family with all his heart, spoiling them all as much as possible. In addition to sports and family, he and Cathy enjoyed showing British Shorthairs. If he was not watching a sporting event he was talking about his beloved cats and sharing the breed with spectators of all ages.
A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends 3-5 p.m. prior to the service. A private burial will be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Pittsfield. Memorials are suggested to PAWS of Jacksonville or to MEOW Mobile in Springfield. I was very fortunate to know Roger from South Jacksonville Kindergarden thru Jonathan Turner and JHS and beyond. Loved the guy. We had a lot of fun. He was a great manager of many athletic teams. He could always hit the corner shot in basketball games. Take care Mrs. D. Mickey Clary, Seattle

Roger was one of my oldest friends dating back to kindergarten at South Jville School. Then a few years later was my golf partner as I tried to keep up in a sport i never mastered ! My sympathy to his family. I will miss him.

Prayers go out to Rogers family. Roger and I met in our early teens in summer school. Then went to high school together and worked at EMI together. Though in resent years we only caught up at reunions. I will miss him.

My first memories of Roger go back to Jr. High, he was always nice but I never got to know him very well. It was Facebook that brought me back to those earlier years in life and I could see the passion that he lived life with. He loved his wife, his cats, and was dedicated to his work and showed so much compassion in his life to those around him. I have enjoyed his posts on FB and the opportunity to see what a wonderful man he has been. May God comfort those he has left for now.
