Fred Jackson Obituary

Fred passed away in the early morning hours of February 23rd, 2023 from heart complications. He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Cheryl, his brothers, David, of Rockwall, Tx; Jim, of Manchaca, Tx; Ken, of Cummings, GA; and Bob of Mecosta, MI. and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James Jackson; his mother, Elizabeth d'Andrimont and his sister, Zelma Jane.

Born in Plainview, Texas on October 19, 1953, Fred attended Plainview High School where he excelled in athletics, he was the quarterback of the Angry Red, better known as the Plainview Bulldogs. He loved college football and, on moving to California, took the Fresno State Bulldogs under his wing and went to many of their games. Fred never had children, but coached Little League Baseball for many, many years. His Little League White Sox were always winning games. When he left Plainview for Arizona he continued to coach. He influenced the lives of many young men who went on to be winners not just in baseball, but in life. He had a career in sales, but nothing could keep him off the golf course. Family tournaments could last from sunrise to sunset, playing 54 holes in a day, teeing off in the dark and putting the last putt of the day in the dark and then arguing all the way back to mom's about who owed who money. Fred was a gentle, kind-hearted human being who would do anything for anyone. He always had a positive attitude about everything. Even in his failing health, he was ready to take on anything. He loved his beautiful wife, and he will be missed by all of us.

A Memorial Service will be held at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview, Texas on June 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Plainview Memorial Park.
