I’m so saddened to hear that Mel has passed away. Having her as a neighbor was a treat. I always looked forward to her stories of her travels and best of all her great jokes she would tell me across the fence that separated our properties. My prayers and condolences go out to her family and friends. May you Rest In Peace Mel.

Mel was a special person! She was fun to be around and she’ll be missed by so many! Wish I could have known her longer and better, but sure did enjoy her in Niagara Falls! Sending hugs and prayers for all Mels family, and a special hug for Jack and Sylvia!

Mel gave me my first job in high school at a little boutique in Myrtle Square Mall 30 years ago. Mel always said that I attracted the crazy people into the store but loved me just the same. I loved working for Mel as she always gave me her opinion and knew exactly what I should do in life. She'd set me up on blind dates, volunteered me to help paint murals, send me to concerts to be on TV, and all kinds of fun things. She also invited me to join Bill to watch the Redskins on Sundays while she worked and took me out crabbing in the inlet. You can also say Mel gave me my start in my healthcare career by talking me into interviewing for BCBSSC when it first opened in MB. I have so many fond memories of Mel, and I cherish them all. Thank you Mel for being a part of my life and allowing me to be part of yours.
