Robert Garrison Stevens, 94, husband of the late Mary Jane Galvin Stevens, entered the presence of his Savior on June 26, 2018.
Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late John W. and Matilda L. Hahn Stevens. Mr. Stevens retired as a budget director with the Pfizer Corporation. He was a WWII Air Force veteran, a B17 pilot having flown 38 missions over Germany. He was a member of the 91st Bomb Group Memorial Association of WWII and of the Presbyterian faith.
He is survived by his step-sons: Craig D. Mueller(Diana), of Bainbridge, NY, Steve F. Mueller(Barbara), of Denver, CO, and Richard J. Mueller, of Kissimmee, FL; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Lorraine Hill Stevens.
A memorial service will be Saturday June 30, 2018 at 10am at The Howze Mortuary Chapel.

I met Bob Stevens around 1936 when we were in the 6th grade. There were many Bob's in our gang, so we called him Stevie. We became best friends. We both played trumpet in the band, were in Boy Scouts together and went on camping trips. We were both pilots in WWII and flew missions over Germany. I flew a B24, he a B17. After the war, we attended Cornell and were roommates off campus. We would work on local farms in Ithaca on weekends to earn extra money.
I was one of his ushers in his wedding to Lorraine. Sadly, Lorraine passed away and when our 50th high school reunion was held for New Rochelle High, my wife, Janet, and I encouraged Stevie to attend with us - and it was there that he reconnected with Mary Jane. They married and moved to Pawley's Island, South Carolina. Janet and I retired to North Carolina and were happy to be close enough to be able to get together with them often during our retirement years.
He was a great guy! He was one of my oldest and best friends and we kept in touch until he passed. I shall miss him very much!
