David Wayne Hetelle, 66, of Ottawa, formerly of Marseilles, after a long battle with cancer, passed away Monday, July 5, 2021 at his home.
Funeral services will be private. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
He was born October 24, 1954, in Ottawa, to Wayne and Reita (Hogan) Hetelle. On August 5, 2008, he married Cathy Vicich of Ottawa who survives.
David was a valued employee and friend of Spicer Gravel Co Inc. and River Ready-Mix Inc. until his retirement and also a retired member of the Laborers' Local 393. David excelled throughout his life at athletics, especially baseball and bowling. His passions were golf, watching the Cubs and the Bears, and riding his Harley. Dave was also a skilled musician with a love for playing his guitar, especially for his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy; his son, Christopher Hetelle of Chicago; his three daughters, Sonya (Jon) Helring of Maryland, Elizabeth Babarro (Gary) of Ottawa, and Paige Hamill of Ottawa; seven grandchildren, Tristan, Rachael, Noah, Callie, Ryder, Hadley, and Charliegh; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Oliver (in September); one sister, Sharon (Dale) Johnson) of Ransom; two brothers, Craig (Sue) Hetelle of Seneca and Gene (Barb) Hetelle of Pontiac; many loving nieces and nephews; close friends; and his furry friends, Sadie and Shadow.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother in infancy; and a special cousin, Mary Riddlesberger.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
