Dorothy Bongartz, 89, of Ottawa, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30pm, on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at St. Patrick's Church with Father Nicholas Wilson officiating. Visitation will be at the Ottawa Funeral Home from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery.
Dorothy was born June 9, 1933, in Ottawa to Bernard and Catherine (Cull) Dwyer. She married Robert E. Bongartz on September 8, 1956. He passed away March 9, 2001.
Dorothy worked at Snap-On Tools and retired after 24 years. Upon retirement Dorothy liked to travel and in later years she treasured her time with family. She liked to play cards and have drinks with her girlfriends.
She is survived by her daughter, Beth (Paul) Worsley; her sons, Mark (Lori) Bongartz and Tom (Candace Lowe) Bongartz; her grandchildren, Brett (Andie) Worsley, Drew (Laura) Worsley, Zak (Paige Wesa) Worsley, Jordan (Chad) Wahl, Bailie Bongartz, Riley Bongartz, and Allison (Nathan) Godwin; her great grandchildren, Braycen Godwin, Brexton Godwin, Graeme Worsley, Palmer Worsley, Penelope Wahl and Beckham Wahl; her sister, Barbara McGinnis; her cousin, Marilyn Marta; and her special friends, Shiela Blue and June Caputo.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert "Bummy" Bongartz; and a daughter, Dorie Bongartz.
Pallbearers will be Jack Abernathy, Keith McGinnis, Terry McAndrew, Chris Sipula, Joe Hettel, and Mike Nevins. Honorary pallbearers are Brett Worsley, Drew Worsley and Zak Worsley.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
