DIXON – Janet Lynn Songer, 76, of Dixon, died on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at KSB Hospital. Janet was born on May 26, 1947, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Robert and Jeane (Jamison) Songer. Janet was active in T.O.P.S. and enjoyed participating in several Bunco groups. She was an avid gnome collector, and adored watching the birds. Most of all, Janet loved spending time with her family and was devoted to her grandchildren. She will be remembered as the kindest, most generous, and loving person you will ever meet. Janet was loved by all, and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include two daughters, Heather (Lance) Reason, of Dixon, and Jami Dunn Cannell, of Rock Falls; one sister, Bobbee (Gregg) Hawkins, of Catlin, IL; two grandchildren, Katie Reason, of Lostant, IL, and Andrew Cannell, of Rock Falls; one great grandson on the way, Killian; and several nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one sister, Maryann Taylor.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

I remember Janet and I being an item in early grade school with a hot date going to the water fountain. Memories always put a smile on my face.

So sorry for Janet's family's lose. She was such a happy gal. We had such fun on high school running around in our corvairs, but she had the cool orchid color convertible. We chased those Oakwood guys and she caught Denny Dunn with his cool corvette. Missed her at recent reunions but enjoyed her and family on Facebook. She will be missed but always loved in our memories.

I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathy to Janet´s family. I have fond memories of the parties on the cement basketball court behind Janet house for all of us with May birthdays. I remember, usually the last game of the night, without parents around, was spin the bottle. Who knows Janet may have been my first KISS!!! RIP JANET!
