Robert Leo Higgins, age 83, of Oswego, IL, passed away with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Bickford of Oswego. He was born April 7, 1941, in Ottawa, IL the son of Richard and Leota Higgins.
He met his wife Carolyn, at Mendota High School and was married in 1959. He worked at Carsons Grocery Store, then began working in Insurance sales, and eventually began his long-term career at Caterpillar Tractor Company. He was a hard worker always providing for his family. His commitment to family and God were the cornerstones of his life. He was very involved in volunteering at Park Place Baptist Church for many years. One true goal in his life was to help others know Jesus as their Savior. Numerous mission trips took him to places where he could help others. They met many wonderful life-long friends through their missionary work.
He is survived by his daughter Nancy (Nick) Kish, daughter Joyce Luczyn, 3 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 8 great-grandchildren, brothers Brian (Cathy) Higgins, Doug (Julie) Higgins, and sisters-in-law Ava Denault, Jane Richardson and Barb Zinke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carolyn, son David Higgins, brother Richard Higgins and 4 brothers-in-law.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 10:00 AM until a funeral service at 12:00 PM (Noon) at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. Robert will be laid to rest next to his wife at 2:00 PM at Restland Cemetery in Mendota, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
