Born: June 6, 1944 in Streator, IL
Died: June 3, 2025 in Peru, IL
Steven L. Stull, age 80 of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital in Peru.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 10th at Crossbridge Community Church with Pastor Sherry Stevenson officiating. Interment with military honors by the Ottawa American Legion Post 33 Honor Guard will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Crossbridge. Pallbearers will be Jim "JT" Townsend, Bill Moreland, Dale Hornick, Tim Wood, Stan Dale and Bob Riebe. Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home is serving the Stull family.
Steve was born June 6, 1944 in Streator, Illinois, a son of Russell and Opal (Draper) Stull. He married Phyllis Cooper November 9, 1968 at the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa. Surviving are Phyllis, his wife of 55 years; children, Stephanie Rohrer of Putnam, IL and Curtis (Kandace) Stull of Pleasant Prairie, WI; grandchildren, Sidney, Nolan, and Hudson; a sister, Beverly (Joe) Kennedy of Palatine, IL; and a God-child, Nicole Hill of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jeremy Wright; and two brothers, Robert and Charles Stull.
Steve retired as plant manager at C. W. Estes. He honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967. Steve was a devout born again Christian and was an active member of Crossbridge Community Church. He had a passion for ministering to and mentoring young people through his affiliation in various churches. His devotion to reaching youth through the Living In Faith Everyday (LIFE) program touched the lives of countless young people. He enjoyed the game of golf and was a member of Senica Oak Ridge Country Club and was enjoying playing his final round with his golfing buddies. Steve had an interest in other sports such as tennis, Golden Glove Boxing and was proud at the age of 73 to complete running the 40th Chicago Marathon for Team World Vision, a mission program to provide clean water to children in Africa that was very dear to him. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. His warm and genuinely caring personality will always be remembered and cherished by his family and numerous friends.
