Mr. June Elijah “Bubba” Shaffner, III passed away to heaven on Monday night, March 10, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center in N. Wilkesboro, NC, after a period of declining health in hospice care.
Bubba was born in Charlotte, NC on December 14, 1945, to the late June E. Shaffner, Jr. and Elizabeth Porter Moore. He was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Lori Anne Shaffner Shumate, RN, and his brothers, David Porter Shaffner, James Donald Shaffner, and a great-grandson, Peyton Elijah Parker.

He began his career with Whirlpool Corporation as a retail territory manager and retired with over 30 years of service. He won several sales awards with Whirlpool over the years.
Bubba was a Christian and was saved and baptized as a young man at Westover Baptist Church in Charlotte. To know Bubba, was to love him. He had a heart of gold and was a people person. He never met a stranger and made everyone around him feel included, welcomed, and loved. In his own words, “there’s no love, like Bubba love”. Some of his favorite times were spent on Lake Norman, boating, and swimming. He loved the water, and enjoyed going to SOS at Myrtle Beach, listening to beach music, and shagging. Bubba loved to cook and entertain his friends and family. More than anything, he loved his family and spoiling his girls.
Those left to cherish his memory, are his beloved daughters, Elizabeth “Libbi” Watts (Tim) and Joie Shaffner Pelfrey (Kevin), grandchildren, Lauren Foster Williams (Demonde), Drew Dickson (Elsa), Morgan Foster Eller (Adam), Taylor Dickson Sepokas (Daniel), Cory Herring (Chelley), Sydney Herring Holland (Jeff), Katie Watts Steele (Derek), Lindsey Watts Smeeks (Chase), great-grandchildren, Jaden and Keaton Parker, Beckham, Kohen, Lennon, Mason, Jayce, and Maddison Williams, Tillie Dickson, Camdyn and Foster McClary and Finley Smithey, Lindsay, Salem and Peyton Eller, Lilly, Levi and Leo Herring, Stratton, Kenny and Reagan Holland, Laney and Jackson Steele, Chandler and Lola Smeeks, a great-great-granddaughter, Kimberle’ Elizabeth, a son-in-law, Thomas H.
