A.J. Doc Stadelmeyer

Arthur John A.J. "Doc" Stadelmeyer, II, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, in Ashland, KY. Born on November 7, 1961, in Saginaw, MI, A.J. lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his students, and his faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love, education, and service that will be cherished by all who knew him.

A.J. is survived by his loving wife, Jean Stadelmeyer of Ashland; his children Kristian Stephen Rigsby and fiancée Ivy, Frankie Rigsby, and Katelyn Renee Rigsby and wife Karissa, all of Ashland; his cherished granddaughter, Juniper Fae Rigsby; his brother, William "Bill" Stadelmeyer and wife Jennifer of Atlanta, GA; his in-laws, Catherine Francetti of Pendleton, OR, and Steve & Michel Northsea of Dunnellon, FL; along with twelve nieces and nephews, and his beloved pets, Dexter and Nuggie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Wesley and Marjorie Jean Smith Stadelmeyer.

An alumnus of Eastern Kentucky University, A.J. graduated, received his master's degree and was a distinguished member of the alumni community. At the time of his passing, he was furthering his education at Tri-State Bible College, majoring in Theology, demonstrating his unquenchable thirst for knowledge and his deep Christian faith. A.J. was a dedicated member of the Grandview Church of God.

Professionally, A.J. was a pillar in the Ashland Independent School System, where he taught Health and Sports Medicine from 1989 until his retirement in 2017. His passion extended beyond the classroom as he served as Athletic Trainer for Paul G. Blazer High School and UK Kings Daughters Medical Center. His expertise and commitment to the well-being of athletes were evident throughout his 40-year career as a Certified Athletic Trainer.

Intelligent, thoughtful, and passionate, A.J. was a man who inspired excellence in others through his own example. His ability to connect with his students and athletes on a personal level left an indelible mark on countless lives. His guidance and mentorship shaped the future of many young individuals, both on and off the field.

As we say goodbye to "Doc" Stadelmeyer, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. His spirit will continue to guide us, and his memories will forever be a source of comfort and strength. A.J. may have left this earth, but his legacy will endure through the lives he touched and the love he gave so freely. Rest in peace, dear A.J.; your journey has been a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived.

Funeral services will be held 11:00am Friday, February 20, 2026 at the STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13TH ST. CHAPEL by Pastor Acy Gibson. Burial will follow at the Ashland Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
