It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of A. L. Latting, a cherished father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, and valued member of the White Oak community, who departed this life peacefully on February 11, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on December 6, 1929, in Cord, Arkansas, to Ardis and Alby Latting, A. L. embodied the spirit of hard work and dedication throughout his life.
A. L. joined the United States Army in 1951 and served proudly in Korea. He received a Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and a Combat Infantry Badge
A. L. was married for 58 years to his loving wife Eileen Latting before she went to be with the Lord in 2009. Together they provided a loving home for their children, Daniel, Jeff, and Connie. He was a dedicated husband and father and a hardworking individual who spent much of his career in the oil and gas industry.
He devoted his career to the oil fields, contributing significantly to a vital sector that powered many livelihoods. He worked and retired from Oxy Petroleum after 42 years of service, where he was known for his unwavering commitment to excellence and his kindness to those he worked alongside. He left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege to know him.
A. L. is preceded in death by his parents Ardis and Alby Latting, his beloved wife Eileen Latting, son Daniel Latting, granddaughter April Latting, and brother Lavelle Latting. He is survived by his son, Jeffery Latting and wife Deborah, and daughter Connie Nichols and her husband Jerry. Also left to cherish his precious memory are his grandchildren, Lindsay Duran, Nathan Nichols, Nicole Nichols, and great grandchildren Brynlee, Blakelee, Josh, Nolan, Charlotte and Sterling as well as other family members, friends and members of Calvary Baptist Church.
Family and friends are invited to honor A. L.'s life and memory at a graveside service to be held at the Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel on February 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM. This ceremony will offer a time for reflection, remembrance, and celebration of his remarkable journey. Honorary Pallbearers are Donnie Biesel, Zell Stephens, Robert Ellis, Steve Swain, Glenn Hughes, and Allen Waits.
As we prepare to say goodbye, let us cherish the memories of A. L. Latting-the laughter, the stories, and the indelible mark he has left on our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace, forever remembered in our thoughts and our lives.
