Andrew Richard Lickwar, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2023 in Cumming, GA.
Richard was born on February 18, 1933 to Andrew and Stacia Lickwar in New Britain, CT. He enlisted in the United States Air Force August 27, 1954 and retired as a Major on May 31, 1973.
After serving almost 20 years in the U.S Air Force, Richard achieved a Master of Science and a Master of Education and served as the Assistant Principal for East Lyme Junior High School in East Lyme, CT.
Richard loved his God, his country and his family. His quick sense of humor, his great leadership and teaching abilities were qualities that set him apart. He enjoyed golf and watching sports. He was an avid Red Sox fan!
Richard is survived by his wife Barbara Lickwar of 48 years; Two sons, Rick Lickwar, Peter Lickwar (wife - Linnea), and two daughters, Amy Sykes (husband – David), Kristina Passavanti (husband – Trevor); Four grandchildren Hailey Todd (husband - Gabriel), Hayden Sykes (wife – Chloe) , Finley Lickwar, Cali Passavanti; and two great grandchildren, Asher Todd and Lucia Sykes; brother-in-law Steve Falusi and loving nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Stacia Lickwar; and sister, Marilyn Falusi.
Services will be held at Ingram Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wounded Warriors, an organization Richard felt strongly about. Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758516, Topeka, KS 66675
