Aaliyah Marie Louise Johnson, a bright light in the lives of those who knew her, was born on September 24, 2005, in Atlanta, Georgia. Tragically, she passed away on February 9, 2025, in Augusta, Georgia, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unyielding spirit.
Throughout her time on this earth, Aaliyah embraced life with open arms. She found joy in the simple pleasures and had an infectious smile that could brighten even the cloudiest of days. A diligent worker, she contributed her talents and energy to Red Shark, where her colleagues admired her dedication and enthusiasm.
Aaliyah's vibrant presence will be deeply missed by her beloved family. She was the cherished daughter of Elizabeth Johnson and Utray Coffie, and the beloved sister of Selena, Kia, Roger, Antwan, Zorian, Tray, and Ethan. Her bond with each of her siblings was unique and special, filled with shared memories and unbreakable support.
Aaliyah is also remembered fondly by her extended family, including aunts Melanie Smith, Lorretta Shellhamer, Kiva Coffie, Melinda Davis, Chi Coffee, and uncles Roger Johnson Jr., David Davis, Gregory Johnson, Gerald Johnson, John Davis, Rayo Coffie, and Ray Coffie. Each of them held a significant place in her heart, providing love and guidance throughout her life. Her godmother, Dede Cole, offered unwavering support and affection, enriching Aaliyah’s life with her wisdom and kindness.
Family and friends are invited to gather together to celebrate Aaliyah’s life and the beautiful moments that defined her journey. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home, located at 314-A Laney Walker Blvd Ext., Augusta, GA 30901. A heartfelt Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the same location, as loved ones come together to reflect on Aaliyah’s joyful spirit and cherish the memories they created with her.
Though her time was all too brief, Aaliyah Marie Louise Johnson's impact will resound in the hearts of those she touched, a reminder of the beauty and fragility of life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, inspiring all to live fully and embrace every moment.
