In Loving Memory of Aaron Kpalaywan Gweah

With heavy hearts, the Gweah Family announces the passing of Aaron Kpalaywan Gweah, who departed this life on July 6, 2025, at his apartment in Des Moines, Iowa.
Aaron was born on December 5, 1972, in Gbeanpa, Nimba County, Liberia, the first-born son of his father and second-born child of his mother. Among seven siblings, Aaron held a special place in the family as a deeply loved and cherished son. Known for his good humor, cheerful nature, and quiet, introspective personality, he left a lasting impression on all who met him.
During Liberia's civil wars, Aaron and his siblings fled to the Ivory Coast to escape persecution. Eventually, through the help of his younger sister Brenda, he and other family members resettled in Des Moines, Iowa, where he played a supportive role in helping loved ones adjust to their new life-providing rides to work, guidance with getting driver's licenses, and help with moving and settling in.
Aaron is survived by his beloved children Lovetee, Bernice, and Alilcia Gweah, and one cherished grandchild. He also leaves behind his father David Gweah, and siblings Ben, Brenda, Nancy, Winston, and Roseline. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Naomi Gbean, six uncles, and one auntie.
