Aaron Michael Serna, 38, passed away on April 4, 2024. He was born on June 1, 1985, to Angela and Tony Serna in Las Cruces, New Mexico

 He graduated from Texas A&M University in 2007 with a degree in Political Science. Aaron most fondly worked as a policy advisor to former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper Jr., leading to an ardent interest in politics. 

Aaron was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed running, biking and hiking, even qualifying for the Boston Marathon after completing his first marathon in Denver, CO. He also completed the AIDS/LifeCycle ride, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to LA in 2022. Aaron loved traveling and immersing himself in different cultures.

Aaron was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Woody Sizemore and Robert Serna, and great-grandparents, Danois and Ermenia Ortega. He is survived by his loving parents, Tony and Angela Serna of Burleson, TX, as well as sister Becca Serna (Mark) of Aledo, TX, brother David Serna (Beth) and niece Oakleigh of Burleson, TX, grandmothers Ernestina Sizemore of Burleson, TX and Ichiko Serna of Alamogordo, NM, and Aunt Jennifer Sizemore of Las Vegas, NV and Uncle Bobby Serna of Alamogordo,NM. Aaron is also survived by countless friends. 

A celebration of Aaron’s life is scheduled for 1 p.m. on May 11, 2024, at City Life Church, 915 Florence St., Fort Worth, TX 76102.

 In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations in Aaron’s name to either the ALC (AIDS/LifeCycle) or the Trevor Project.
