Gary Thomas Turner, age 73, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025. He was born on October 5, 1951, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Claude J. Turner and Deane Smith Turner. On August 15, 1973, he was sealed to his eternal companion, Ana Maria Rodriguez, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they joyfully celebrated 52 years of marriage the day before his passing.
A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gary faithfully served in many callings and devoted much of his time to the Lord’s work. He cherished attending and serving in the temples, strengthening his testimony, and deepening his knowledge of the scriptures. His dedication to genealogy blessed his family. He willingly gave countless hours of service at church farms and the cannery. He would never hesitate to help even through all hours of the night. As a young man, Gary served a mission in the Los Angeles area, where he learned Spanish and continued to speak it fluently throughout his life.
Gary had a passion for exploring the world and delighted in sharing that love of travel and culture with his children and grandchildren. Whether visiting historic sites, enjoying breathtaking landscapes, or learning about different cultures, he made sure his family experienced these adventures with him. Fishing was another joy in his life, and he eagerly equipped his children and grandchildren with the tools and skills. Gary also served as a Boy Scout leader for his sons, dedicating his time and talents to helping young men grow in character and faith.
Above all, Gary’s greatest joy was his family. He and Ana raised five beloved children and lovingly helped raise their first grandchild, Austin. He also had a fondness for poetry, writing a few treasured pieces that reflected his thoughtful spirit. His most cherished role was being a father and grandfather. Known for his kindness, patience, and deep compassion, Gary left a legacy of love that will continue to bless his posterity for generations.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Ana Maria Turner; his five children, Jonathan (Cyndy) Turner, Crystal (Jeff) Conover, Jessica Bradley, Sean (Donna) Turner, and Melissa (Jay) Beverding; three brothers, Glen (Lisseth) Turner, Doug (Laurie) Turner, and Ken (Keettete) Turner; two sisters, Sandy (Kelly) Hansen and Marianne (Kash) Siepert; seventeen grandchildren—Austin(Bayleigh),Alana (Jeremy), Alex, Bonnie (Maryam), Sariah, Camille, Carina, Ian, Jacob, Samantha, Jackie, Natalie, Whitney, Leonidas, Caleb, Malia, and Jalina; and three great-grandchildren—Rosie, Taytum, and Willow.
He will be remembered as a man of unwavering faith, boundless love, and a heart dedicated to family and service. Families are Forever and for All Time and All Eternity!
