Dan Haynes, age 77 years old, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
Dan was born on August 21,1947, in Mobile, AL to Henrietta (Myrtle) Leaman Haynes and Woodrow (George) Haynes in Pascagoula, MS.
Dan spent his early years in Mobile, AL, but spent most of his youth in the Chicago, IL area where he became a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. He was beyond thrilled when the Chicago Cubs finally won the World Series in 2016!
Dan was drafted into the Army soon after high school at 19 years old and was sent to Vietnam in 1967. After serving and fighting for 3 years in Bein Hoa, Vietnam, He was released early to attend College in 1970.
In 1974, Dan was one of the first students to graduate from the University of Alabama with a degree in the inaugural program for Human Resources for the College.
After graduation, Dan moved quite a bit as he always loved finding new adventures. He lived in Illinois, Texas, Florida, Maryland, Georgia, Tennessee and Finally in Nevada. However, through his many moves, he always remained a loyal Chicago Cubs fan.
In 1981, he met his wife Kathy Smith in San Antonio, TX and they were married on August 24,1985, in Chicago, IL. Dan actually met Kathy when he interviewed her for a job! After they did not see each other for a while, they re-connected, and their story began.
Dan loved all sports and even played on the farm team for the Los Angeles Dodgers for a brief time. Dan was very proud of his service and being an Army Veteran. He also loved his family very much.
Dan is survived by his Wife, Kathy who remains living in Henderson, NV, his sister, Tereasa, her Husband, Harry, Niece Mandi, and her Husband, Jim and their three kids, Gracie, Kolt and McKenzie and his nephew Tim.
Dan is preceded in death by his Mother, Father, Sister, Mother-in-law, and father-in-law.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 12:40pm at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 1900 Veteran's memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89055 with a small celebration of Life to follow at the Solera at Anthem Community center located at 2401 Somersworth Drive, Henderson NV 89044
