Abdullah Wajeeh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. - Sterling Heights on Jan. 22, 2026.
Abdullah Mohamad Wajeeh peacefully passed away January 22, 2026 at the age of 90

at his home in Sterling Heights, MI.

Abdullah, known by Cido to those who loved him, was born January 26, 1936 in a small

village, Iksal, outside of Nazareth, Palestine, to his parents Mohamad and Hilwa

Wajeeh. Abdullah spent his early years working on his parent's farm, along with his

siblings Tawfik, Fatmi, Rema, Fouzia, Faiz, Ali, Omar, Arifay and Khalid. In his later

years, Abdullah set out to start a life as a teacher, making his way out of Palestine to

Jordon where he earned his teaching degree and became a successful teacher there.

Abdullah later decided that he wanted to start a life in America, where he discovered

that his teaching degree and his experience would not be accepted for him to continue

to teach. At the age of 24, Abdullah started over, working towards obtaining his

doctorate in mathematics while supporting himself with a number of different jobs such

as janitor, waiter and restaurant maître d'. One day he was waiting on a beautiful

woman, Susan, and he said he knew the second he saw her that he was going to marry

her. Susan and Abdullah enjoyed a true love story, remaining together for 58 years until

Susans passing in 2019.

Abdullah remained a strong supporter of Palestine and was actively involved in the

United Holy Land Fund, serving as president 1979-1980, a non-profit humanitarian

institution. He helped found the Palestinian American Congress in the US, an

organization established in 1979 to assist the Palestinian-American community in

coordinating and organizing its political, educational, cultural and social affairs and

supporting the Palestinian cause. He received the honor of Palestinian of the Year

awarded by the Palestinian American Community Center in Chicago in 2000. Through

his commitment to his Palestinian roots, he had the opportunity to travel and meet a

number of high-ranking politicians and dignitaries.

Abdullah was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan, his daughter Lila (Steve)

Seamans, his parents Mohamad and Hilwa and his siblings, Tawfik, Rema, Fouzia and

Faiz Wajeeh. He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply, his son Omar (Jennifer)

Wajeeh, grandchildren Omar Adam Wajeeh, Samantha Wajeeh, Raina Seamans and

Austin Seamans, as well as his siblings Fatmi, Ali, Omar, Arifay and Khalid Wajeeh.

Cido leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion. Services will be private

at this time. His love and spirit live on in his family.
