Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chamberland Funerals & Cremations from Jul. 7 to Jul. 16, 2025.
Abel Flores was born on June 4, 1951, in Dilley, Texas, and was called home to Heaven on July 4, 2025. He was a proud son of South Texas-rooted in faith, family, and community. Abel graduated from Dilley High School in 1970 and went on to earn an Associate Degree in Business from The University of Texas at San Antonio.
In the early 1970s, Abel moved to
Garland, Texas, where he began his professional journey at Safeway, a major grocery warehouse. There he formed Los Bravos, a softball team made up of his colleagues-many from his hometown. As manager, he led the team with enthusiasm and heart, celebrating many victories that were about more than just the scoreboard; they were about friendship, teamwork, and pride.
Abel was a lifelong sports fan and a proud, loyal supporter of the Texas Rangers. Whether cheering from the stands or watching from home, he found pure joy in the rhythm and excitement of the game. Abel was a true car enthusiast and had a deep love for Tejano and country music. His passion for dancing was infectious-full of energy and rhythm. His presence on the dance floor could light up any room and lift the hearts of everyone around him.
A true entrepreneur at heart, Abel built a successful residential renovation business in Dallas, leaving behind not just renovated homes, but a reputation for honesty, craftsmanship, and dedication. His career eventually took him to Manassas, Virginia, where he served as Operations Manager for Southland Insulators, leading a team of 85 with strength, vision, and compassion. Despite the beauty of Virginia, Abel's heart always belonged to Texas, and he returned home to be closer to his roots and loved ones.
By his side for many years was Lizzy, his faithful Min Pin. Slow-walking and short-legged, she was more than just a pet. Lizzy was his constant companion, his shadow, and his comfort. They shared an unbreakable bond, and now, they walk together once again.
Abel was a man of faith, raised Catholic and grounded in the traditions that shaped him. Above all, he was a devoted father. His sons were the light of his life, and his love for them knew no bounds. His family always came first, and his selflessness was felt in every act of love and every sacrifice made without hesitation.
Abel had a radiant smile, a quick wit, and a warmth that drew people in; He was a social butterfly who made friends wherever he went. He will be remembered for his generous heart, his adventurous spirit, and the joy he brought into every room.
His legacy will live on in the stories we tell, the laughter he sparked, and the love he gave so freely. Abel will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him and forever cherished in our hearts.
He reunites in heaven with his parents, Margarito and San Juana Flores; his baby brother, Margarito Flores; his grandparents, Genaro and Catarina Flores and Rafael and Marianita Castillo; his nephew, Brandon Flores; and his niece, Debra Lee Flores.
