Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home on Oct. 1, 2025.
Abelardo Garcia Cabrera, a cherished husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Lexington, Kentucky, on September 15, 2025. Born on July 5, 1971, in Tamaulipas, Mexico, Abelardo's passion, laughter, and warm spirit touched all who knew him throughout his 54 years of life.
Abelardo spent his formative years in Mexico before moving to the United States, where he established a life filled with love, friendship, and service. Abelardo found joy in his career at Bourbon County Schools, where his commitment to maintenance was more than just a job; it was a reflection of his dedication to fostering a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.
A devoted family man, Abelardo's love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. He leaves behind a wife, Maria Ramirez. His legacy continues through his four wonderful children, whom he raised with love and pride: Wesley Allen Cabrera and his wife, Mackenzie; Jerimiah Ryan Cabrera; Sophie Cabrera; and Clariese Cabrera. Abelardo relished his role as a grandfather to Josephine and Vivian Cabrera, instilling in them values of kindness, humor, and the importance of family bonds.
He is also survived by his devoted brother, Pedro Cabrera, who was not only a sibling but a lifelong friend. Additionally, Abelardo held a special place in his heart for his sister-in-law Angie Ramirez and her husband, Raphiel, with whom he shared many of life's joys and challenges.
As we remember Abelardo Garcia Cabrera, we celebrate a life lived fully and with an abundance of love. While we mourn his passing, we also honor his memory by reflecting on the joy he brought us and the unwavering kindness he shared with those around him. Abelardo's spirit will continue to inspire us, reminding us to cherish every moment with gratitude and grace.
Abelardo's life was a beautiful tapestry of dedication, laughter, and love-a life well-lived and well-loved. As we say farewell, we take comfort in the knowledge that his impact on our lives will be everlasting.
